Boulder North Sky Trail Bridges

  • Boulder North Sky Trail Bridges

Project Overview

This design-build project included the design and construction of two pedestrian bridges (35 and 50-ft. long) and approximately 1,000 linear feet of trails (ranging between four and fifteen feet in width) for a mountainous site located north of Boulder, Colo. A major challenge on this project was the location of the proposed bridges. Both bridges that were to be constructed had no vehicular access, and the very sensitive and critical cultural and natural resources in the area made the creation of access difficult and undesirable. Significant coordination and planning determined the best solution, which was employing the use of helicopters to transport bridge materials to the construction site. The team worked with the City of Boulder, cultural and biological experts, and permitting agencies to determine the best solution for access while keeping construction costs within budget. The project was completed in spring 2024.
