Matt Adams
Director of Pursuits

With 25 years of experience in the construction industry, Matt Adams serves as the Director of Pursuits at HPM, Inc., where he leads the company’s proposal and qualifications efforts across every market. A graduate of Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering Management, Matt holds DBIA accreditation and has been part of more than $2 billion in design-build, CM/GC and CMAR projects over his career.
In his role, Matt is responsible for pursuit strategy, proposal development and the qualifications behind HPM’s best-value and alternative-delivery bids. Before leading pursuits, he led HPM’s civil work as project executive, including the Rocky Mountain National Park housing design-build in Granby and the APWA award-winning Dickens Farm Nature Area for the City of Longmont. Earlier in his career, he managed utilities on Denver’s T-REX design-build and ran the Pine Tree Wind Farm for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, which logged 450,000 accident-free work hours.
Matt’s leadership style is hands-on. He digs into every pursuit to learn what matters most to the client and how HPM can bring its most competitive approach to the work. His favorite HPM project, the Rocky Mountain National Park housing design-build, ran from preconstruction and design all the way through construction, with a great client in the National Park Service and excellent design partners at Martin/Martin and Coffman. As he puts it, “Building in Rocky Mountain National Park in the summertime is not a bad gig.”
Matt’s favorite HPM Core Value is Collaboration. “The part of my position I love most is collaborating with people across HPM, from our Alaska operations in the West to our data center work on the East Coast. Working with all our teams, from preconstruction to operations, is what fuels me.”
