Rocky Mountain National Park Housing Project (ROMO)

  • Rocky Mountain National Park Housing Project (ROMO)

Project Overview

In 2020, the East Troublesome Fire in Colorado tore through Grand County and destroyed a section of employee housing for Rocky Mountain National Park’s seasonal workforce. HPM was awarded this design-build project in April 2023, which includes constructing new site infrastructure to facilitate the installation of prefabricated modular housing. Early site activities in fall 2023 included pioneering work such as clearing dead and burned trees and performing geotechnical exploration to inform the design. The HPM team focused on detailed scheduling and work planning throughout the winter. The team mobilized to install critical infrastructure – including new roads, water, sewer, telecom, and electrical systems – followed by foundations and setting of modular multifamily housing units. The project included 13 modular buildings featuring one-and two-bedroom units, two dormitory-style units, and 18 RV sites. A central resident support facility was also constructed, offering laundry, showers, kitchen amenities, and a communal space.
