Walker Reservoir

  • Walker Reservoir

Project Overview

Located in Franktown, Colo., the Walker Reservoir project transformed an abandoned gravel pit into a critical 1,000 acre-foot water storage facility, supporting long-term water sustainability for Colorado’s Front Range. HPM led the phased construction effort, beginning with the installation of an 80-foot-deep slurry perimeter wall to secure the reservoir boundaries. Over 450,000 cubic yards of material were excavated and reshaped to form the reservoir basin, with on-site embankment placement maximizing efficiency and reducing environmental impact. A centerpiece of the project was a 65-foot cast-in-place concrete pump station, complete with a steel intake conduit, pump house structure, submersible pumps, and all associated mechanical and electrical systems. Additional work included yard piping, permanent access roads, a riprap spillway, and comprehensive drainage and erosion control improvements. The result is a new major water infrastructure asset, carefully designed and constructed to serve the region for decades to come.
