Project Overview
HPM executed a complex four-month multi-site project that involved upgrading 11 existing schools in preparation for the consolidation and closure of 16 others. This project was complex due to its intricate scope and the need to coordinate across multiple locations simultaneously, each with its own unique set of challenges.
The scope of work included various architectural upgrades, including classrooms/learning spaces, and installation of a bullet-resistant window at the front entry of a school. Many upgrades were made to adhere to ADA standards, including an elevator, bathrooms and classrooms. Lighting upgrades included adjustable color/brightness to allow for a better learning environment. Fire alarm upgrades were made to 10 of the 11 schools.
The fast-track upgrades included HVAC heating and cooling system upgrades at each site. These upgrades were particularly challenging, as they had to be implemented without disrupting the ongoing summer operations of the schools.
